Marco Polo

As we read through the journey of Marco Polo, we read about how he described an area where it takes longer for water to boil. Anyone can give a suggestion on why that is so?

Friends from Hong Kong are finally here!

A great big welcome to our Friends from Hong Kong.
Here are some pictures to remember the good times together. Enjoy!

P5 Adventure Camp 08

I'm sure all of you enjoyed our Adventure Camp. Brave Ooi!
Here are the photographs. Enjoy and reflect on what we have learnt.
What have you discovered about your friends and more importantly, about yourselves.

I'll try to put up the captions later on. Those who did not attend the camp, see what fun you have missed out on.

Basic DNA at the Singapore Science Centre

I'm sure many of you gained a lot of knowledge from Mr Sanjeed, our wonderful instructor. I hope that you can remember what DNA means. He also explained to us what identical twins are.

Hmmm...well, Zi Hao and Zi Yin will tell us if they are identical twins or not. We also watched a short video on cloning. Do you remember what animal was the first successfully cloned animal and what is its name?

Then there was the fun part where we extracted the DNA from bacteria. What a pungent smell!

First we added the bacteria sample into a test-tube and then, we added the detergent to break the fats component of the bacteria cell wall. Then, we incubated the mixture into the hot water bath. After 15 mins, we removed the test-tube and addded in ethanol and voila! We get to see the DNA of the bacteria in the form of whitish suspension.

I'm sure many of you also had fun making our DNA model right?

Do you remember the pairing?

A with ______?

G with ______?

Hope everyone of you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves. Tell me which part of the laboratory session you find most interesting.

In the meantime, here's some snapshots of our trip. Enjoy!

Friends from Hong Kong

Hi all! We will be having 5 pupils visiting from Hong Kong in our class. Some of you will be assigned as buddies and co-buddies. There is no homestay. They will be joining our class for lessons. So let's extend our hospitality and be gracious host to them!

In the meantime, those who are selected, you can write emails to your new friends and tell them about yourselves.

They will be with us from 3rd to 5th March. So let's make them feel welcomed!
